Visiting
Our regular practices are open to all active AUSKF members.
For details on our Youth Program and open practice participation, please see information below.
Youth & Kids Program
Our youth & kids program is for children between the age of 9 and 12. We request and require parent supervision for our kendo instructional program to the younger members of our dojo so that we can welcome students of all ages to join. Many start as a family and kendo can become their lifelong special bond that the they can share together. For active dojo member children, please consult with sensei for appropriate instructional start timing.
Our goal:
To create an environment where children and kids can:
Develop positive attitudes and habits such as:
Respect for to one-another (including fellow students, parents) and their own needs.
Perseverance, discipline, resilience.
Confidence in their ability to learn and master new soft and hard skills (which can be generalized to help with their life outside of kendo, e.g. school, friendships)
Make Friends.
Learn kendo and kendo-related skills in a fun, encouraging, engaging and safe manner.
Members of our youth & kids program may be advanced to the adult practice at any age once their ability has reached competency as deemed by the head sensei. Sign-up requirements are the same as our regular adult members.
