Open Practice format and requirements.

Our regular practice are open to all active AUSKF members, (Covid protocols permitting). Non-members, please see information below.

The Shiai Practice/Open Floor is open to active AUSKF memebers only.

In order to help contribute towards our facilities rental expenses we ask that Non-regular visitors contribute a daily use fee when visiting. If visiting on a regular basis, payment of monthly or annual use fee is recommended. (See Membership Fees Section).

Non-regular attendees, please download and sign our Release of Liability form and Dojo Rules before attending the open practice. Forms can be downloaded HERE.

New students and non-AUSKF:
New and non-AUSKF students will need to sign up for membership with SCKF and Shofukan Kendo Dojo and become our Shofukan Kendo Dojo members before being able to participate in the Open Practice. See Membership Fees section for details. Students with prior kendo experience may enroll at anytime of the year following evaluation by the head instructor.

New students without prior kendo experience will be able to enroll at any time, but will begin their first practice on a quarterly basis. This is so that all new students can start their instruction and progress at the same pace. First practice of every quarter will fall on the first Saturday of January, April, July, and September.

We recommend that new students attend one of the practice session to observe in order to gain an understanding of kendo in general. Please contact us in advance of your arrival so that we can make necessary arrangements.

*The head instructor of Shofukan Kendo Dojo will have the right to ask any participants to leave at anytime at his discretion.
