Our Youth Kendo Instructional Program members will participate in the open practice session, following their regular instructional program. Members of our Youth program may only practice with instructors of Shofukan Kendo Dojo or approved assistants during the Open Practice sessions. See Youth Program section for enrollment details.

New students and non-AUSKF:
New and non-AUSKF students will need to sign up for membership with SCKF and Shofukan Kendo Dojo and become our Shofukan Kendo Dojo members before being able to participate in the Open Practice. See Membership Fees section for details. Students with prior kendo experience may enroll at anytime of the year following evaluation by the head instructor.

New students without prior kendo experience will be able to enroll at any time, but will begin their first practice on a quarterly basis. This is so that all new students can start their instruction and progress at the same pace. First practice of every quarter will fall on the first Saturday of January, April, July, and September.

We recommend that new students attend one of the practice session to observe in order to gain an understanding of kendo in general. Please contact us in advance of your arrival so that we can arrange for a visitors pass at JCC.

*The head instructor of Shofukan Kendo Dojo will have the right to ask any participants to leave at anytime at his discretion.
